February 19, 2016August was another great month at Abbington of Pickerington Assisted Living. If you’ve been searching for the highest quality Pickerington assisted living facilities, you need to check out Abbington of Pickerington Assisted Living. It’s the perfect place for people who want to maintain their independence while enjoying the security that comes with our top-notch staff and facilities. Residents become a part of a tight-nit community that grows, celebrates and lives life to the fullest together. Days can be as structured or unstructured as the resident desires, but most choose to take advantage of the fun and fulfilling activities our devoted staff plans for them each month. Here’s a look at what everyone at Abbington of Pickerington Assisted Living got into this August.
Physical health and fitness are paramount at Abbington of Pickerington Assisted Living. We want the residents to exercise to the extent of their capabilities; we know that physical activity has a profound effect on more than the body, but also on the mind and spirit. One’s mood is brighter when the body is active. But of course, the exercise activities are always light and fun for the residents. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays always begin with a Group Walk. It’s a great way to start the week and start the day. It gets the blood flowing, burns a few calories, and builds camaraderie, giving the residents a chance to socialize and catch up on things. Physically, mentally, and emotionally the Group Walks really keep spirits high in our community.
Other activities contributing to the health of our residents include Sit and Be Fit, Exercise with Abby, Wii Bowling, Parachute Fun, and Health Talk. We make sure the residents know all the proper habits to be as healthy as possible. And while the exercise itself is very important, clearly we make it fun. Wii Bowling and Parachute Fun are some favorites that really get the blood pumping.
While health is a focal point at Abbington of Pickerington Assisted Living, we’re not afraid to indulge. Life should be enjoyed. That’s why the calendar is filled with activities for the sole purpose of please. An outing to Dairy Queen, yogurt parfaits, lemonade socials, ice cream socials, and making strawberry trifles are all favorites.
We also keep in mind that many of our residents like to spend time on their spiritual fulfillment too. Church services, Bible Study, and Communion are all available to our residents on a weekly basis.
Some of the most fun we have at Abbington of Pickerington Assisted Living comes from our games and outings. Of course, weekly Bingo is quite popular among our residents. We also play Euchre, crossword puzzles, card games, Yahtzee, and even beach volleyball. Our outings include lunch at the Hollywood Casino, and trips to the grocery store and the thrift store. At least once a week we watch a classic movie and make popcorn. It really brings everyone back to some fond memories.
Check back next month to see what we did in September.
