If you’re searching for Pickerington assisted living, quality care from highly trained professionals is obviously a top priority. Abbington of Pickerington Assisted Living employs only the warmest, most professional staff to provide care to its residents. However, there’s more to choosing your Pickerington assisted living than simply the quality of care. Residents want assistance when necessary, but also want their independence and plenty of opportunities to enjoy their life. Abbington of Pickerington Assisted Living understands this desire and works hard to ensure there are routinely fun activities for the residents to enjoy.
January of 2015 was one of Abbington of Pickerington Assisted Living’s most fun months yet. Let’s take a look at some of the activities residents enjoyed.
The nature of our activities is wide ranging at Abbington of Pickerington Assisted Living. Some activities are light. One of the most popular includes the collective decoration of a mural that hangs in the activity room. Brenda, an activity director, is a talented artist. She draws pictures on the different squares of the mural and the residents take turns coloring them. The proud residents always leave their initials on the squares they have completed.
Other light activities are more reminiscent of the pleasantries of everyday life outside of Pickerington assisted living, such as a hair salon and nail polish session every Wednesday morning for the ladies and a men’s coffee social. And we can’t forget the exciting watch parties we had for the Buckeyes! Residents cheered on the Bucks together just like the rest of Central Ohio, as they topple mighty Alabama and then Oregon in the inaugural College Football Playoff.
And while self-indulgence is a well-deserved perk that comes with Abbington of Pickerington Assisted Living, many residents would be more than perturbed if opportunities for self-improvement were not as plentiful. That’s why residents can participate in weekly stretching, walking, and exercise sessions. Exercise makes everyone feel better, not just physically but also mentally and emotionally. We like to stay fit and happy at Abbington of Pickerington Assisted Living.
But self-improvement doesn’t stop with physical activity. The residents at Abbington of Pickerington Assisted Living are eager to sharpen their minds as well. Puzzles, board games, brain games, word scrambles, scrabble, crossword puzzles, and even a trip to the library all helped to keep the brain cells charging in January. And while most activities are light, there are heavier activities for emotional stimulation such as poetry corner, Bible study, sharing old photos and memories, a fireside chat over “Chicken Soup for the Soul”, and the popular Classic Movie Night.
