Abbington’s Coshocton assisted living had a fun May
June 30, 2015August at Abbington of Pickerington Assisted Living
September 30, 2015A summer-like spring gave way to a rainy summer at Abbington of Pickerington Assisted Living. But with good company and plenty to do, no one could complain about the weather. June was full of fun and fulfillment at Abbington of Pickerington Assisted Living, just like every month here thanks to our excellent staff and energetic residents eager to enjoy life.
If you’re looking for Pickerington assisted living facilities that allow residents to maintain their independence and individuality, have fun, and grow, all while still knowing the security of a friendly, highly trained staff, then you need to visit Abbington of Pickerington Assisted Living. The following is a look at what we were up to in June, and don’t forget to check back next month to find out about the fun we had in July.
Physical health is always a focus for us at Abbington of Pickerington Assisted Living. We know that physical health affects one’s mood and overall mental health. That’s why we always have various activities on our calendar that get our residents and staff exercising. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning begins with a Group Walk. It builds camaraderie and gets every going. There’s also Sit And Be Fit, which, to many, is just the right kind of exercising. We also promote physical health through Health Talks in which we discuss diet and other healthy habits.
At Abbington of Pickerington Assisted Living we also place a high value on the spiritual health of our residents. Bible Study, Church Service, and the Sacrament of Communion are available every week to those who wish to take part. We also have time set aside to hear and share inspirational stories. Routine has its purpose, but we also want to encourage growth – the more discussion, exploration, and learning that we can share in, the healthier and happier all of our lives will be.
One of the most important ingredients of a happy life is fun. At Abbington of Pickerington Assisted Living, we have lots of it. June 1st we had entertainer, Scott Steelman come perform for our residents. He really brought the house down. Later in the day we enjoyed a few rounds dominoes and then had Game of Choice in the activity room. At least once a week we play Bingo, have movie night, play Scrabble, solve crossword puzzles, play Euchre, and so much more. We also have social events like our Iced Tea Day Social or our Campfire with S’mores. A special favorite of all our ladies is when we open the Hair Salon every Wednesday morning. Always look your best!
We also want to encourage the creativity of our residents who are very talented. We have Poetry Corner, an activity called Write a Story, Painting Class, and various arts & crafts activities. We’re always impressed with the quality of work our residents produce.
