Summer is Almost Over but the Fun at Abbington isn’t
August 10, 2017Fall Festivities in Full Force !
October 9, 2017Time to go Back to School! It is that time of year again: the weather is changing and so are the schedules with the schoolsstarting up. Work and school are keeping life busy, but so are we at Abbington Assisted Living. This year we are celebrating National Assisted living Week from September 10th -16th, starting on Sunday September 10th with National Grandparents Day. It’s a perfect time to take a break from the whirlwind of back school and bring the whole family to celebrate with your loved ones who live at Abbington.
Here at Abbington Assisted Living, we have planned a celebration in keeping with the back to school theme: a full schedule of our own “classes” of various activities. We will have a school picture day where residents are encouraged to bring old childhood photos and other keepsakes to share with the community and reminisce. A “Brown Bag Lunch Auction” will be held that will contain fast food gift cards and a few other surprises. Other activities include recess for some healthy exercise, a good old fashioned Spelling Bee, art classes, a field trip, a punch social, bingo, and school awards. This is a great chance to show your school spirit and come support our “senior” class.
This week is a unique opportunity to observe and celebrate all the residents, their loved ones, staff, volunteers and community that are involved and serve at Abbington Assisted Living. The National Center for Assisted Living has designated this year’s theme is “Family is Forever.” As Maya Angelou said, “Family isn’t always blood, it’s the people in your life who want you in theirs; the ones who accept you for who you are, the ones who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what.” In this busy back to school season, its important to take a step back, remember those who matter the most in your life and schedule some time this month to visit, talk and reminisce about life and the joys it’s brought us all so far.
