Abbington Assisted Living was founded in the mid 1990's and is locally owned

and operated.  Active owner/operators include John M. Haemmerle, President,

J. Michael Haemmerle, Vice President, and Roberta B. Smith, Vice President of Operations, all of whom were instrumental in the formation and development of

the company and its philosophy.

There are five Abbington assisted living communities in Ohio.  Each location is an independent business entity, managed by Abbington Management Corp. and each

entity shares some common ownership. 

• Is the location convenient and the outward appearance attractive?
• Is the interior decor tasteful and the floorplan easy to follow?
• Does the staff appear to be friendly and attentive?
• Is the staff available to provide 24-hour assistance with activies of daily living, such as dressing, bathing, grooming, eating, mobility, medication reminders, etc.?
• Is medication self-administered with timely reminders from staff?
• Are resident suites private with private bathrooms?  Do they come furnished?
• Are resident suites lockable, have an emergency response system, and include a telephone and cable TV hookup?
• Is the dining area pleasant and clean?  Are residents provided with three meals a day plus snacks?
• Is there a schedule of activities both in and outside the residence?
• Is transportation available for scheduled activities, shopping trips, physician appointments, etc.?
• What is the pricing structure?  All-inclusive, tiered, ala carte?  Are there additional fees over and above the basic rate?
